Editorial policy
This page sets out how every guide on Online Betting Kenya comes to exist: which documents count as sources, what is never published, how a page is prepared and checked before it goes live, who stands behind it today and how mistakes are handled. It is the page the byline on every guide points to, so it is written to be read, not filed.
The AI disclosure
Every page of this handbook is drafted by the Online Betting Kenya editorial team with AI tools and then checked automatically against the Act, the Regulations and the other primary sources it cites before it is published.
That sentence appears in the footer of every page and in the site's machine-readable description. In practice it means that a language model drafts text from a brief and from the facts registry described below, that a script tests the draft against the gates listed under checking, and that nothing reaches the site while a single gate fails. The tools do not invent facts: a figure that is not in a named primary document is left out, and the rule is written without the figure.
Sources that count
Only primary documents count as sources. For this site they are:
- The Gambling Control Act, 2025 (No. 14 of 2025), published in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 141 on 12 August 2025, assented to on 7 August 2025 and commenced on 26 August 2025, read from the Government Printer text that the regulator hosts.
- The five Regulations made under the Act on 29 June 2026 and gazetted on 30 June 2026: Licensing (L.N. 111), Conduct of Gambling Operations (L.N. 112), Foreign-Based Operators (L.N. 113), Advertising (L.N. 114) and the Gambling Appeals Tribunal (L.N. 115).
- The Gambling Regulatory Authority's own website, including its list headed Licensed Gaming Companies for the Trading Period 2025/26, quoted exactly and dated.
- The Excise Duty Act (Cap. 472), the Income Tax Act, the Finance Acts of 2025 and 2026 and the Kenya Revenue Authority's public notices and FAQ, for every tax figure.
- Safaricom's and Airtel's own tariff pages and the Central Bank of Kenya's directory of payment service providers, for every payment limit and charge.
- The Data Protection Act, 2019 and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, for data rights.
News sites, affiliate and review sites, forums, encyclopaedias and operators' own marketing are never sources. If a claim can only be traced to one of those, it is not published.
What is never published
Rankings, ratings or scores of operators. Bonus amounts, free bet offers or promo codes. Hyperlinks to any operator, including through redirect links. Testimonials, winner stories or quotes from bettors. First-hand claims such as tests, trials or deposits made by the editorial team, because none are made. Tips, predictions or anything that presents gambling as income. Content aimed at or styled for readers under eighteen.
How a page is prepared and checked
A page starts from a brief that names one question and the chapter it belongs to. The draft is written with the sources open and every legal statement names its section or regulation inline. Before publication a script checks: that every source is a primary document with an access date and that none is on the network's blacklist; that the 18+ notice and the link to the help page are present; that no promotional, promissory or invented-experience wording appears, using the published word lists; that no operator is hyperlinked and no redirect link exists; that the text does not duplicate another page on this site or on a sister site; and that titles, descriptions, headings, tables and dates meet the template. Publication happens only at zero defects. A page that fails is fixed or dropped, never published with a note.
Who reviews a page
At present no named human reviewer is published. The byline on every guide reads prepared with AI tools under our editorial policy, and that is the whole truth of it: the editorial team drafts with AI tools and relies on the automated checks above and on primary texts, not on a signed-off review by an identified person. When a reviewing editor is appointed, their name and role will be published here and on the about page, and the byline will change on the same day. Until then, treat every page as a carefully checked summary that still deserves to be read against the law it cites.
Dates
Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and every source lists the date it was read. The updated date changes only when the substance of the text changes; a corrected typo that does not alter meaning does not reset it. A rule that changes after the date shown is a correction, and the log on that page records it.
Independence
No operator pays this site, no operator sees a draft before publication and no operator is linked. The page how we make money explains why, with the sections of the Act and the Advertising Regulations that make the position a legal one as much as an editorial one.
Mistakes
Mistakes are corrected in the page, dated, and recorded in the public corrections log. The corrections page explains what counts as an error and what happens after a report.
Readers under eighteen
Regulation 92(1)(c) of L.N. 112 of 2026 treats persons under eighteen as minors who must be kept out of gambling and gambling promotion, and section 72(2) and (3) of the Act require operators to see proof of age of majority before registering anyone. This site is written for adults and carries the 18+ notice on every page. If you are under eighteen, the law says you should not have a betting account, and nothing here will help you get one.
